WEEE Forum statement regarding the formation of ‘WEEE Africa Forum’

The WEEE Forum a.i.s.b.l., a Brussels-based international not-for-profit association, has taken note of the formation, on 25 May 2018, of the ‘WEEE Africa Forum’. The WEEE Forum wishes to make it clear that there is no association, affiliation or relationship between it and WEEE Africa Forum.

The WEEE Forum, set up in 2002, speaks for 36 not-for-profit electrical and electronic equipment waste (WEEE) producer responsibility organisations (PRO), with operations in Europe, Oceania and North America: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czechia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Italy, Greece, France, Iceland, Ireland, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. It is the biggest organisation of its kind in the world. In 2016, its member organisations reported collection and proper de-pollution and recycling of 2,100,000 tonnes of WEEE.
The WEEE Forum and its member organisations are at the coalface of mitigating humans’ environmental footprint.

For an organisation, wherever it has its operations, to qualify for membership of the WEEE Forum, it must be not-for-profit and controlled or mandated by producers of electrical and electronic equipment or producer associations.
