Description: The Archdiocesan Sanctuary of Christ the Redeemer incorporated the International E-Waste Day into the calendar of sustainability actions and has actively participated in this initiative since 2021. Together with Reciclotron, an impact startup incubated at the Universidade Federal Fluminense, it began work to raise awareness for cultural transformation and encourage population adherence to regular recycling practices and conscious consumption.

This year, we will continue the partnership with Reciclotron and illuminate the Christ the Redeemer monument with the three pillars of sustainability, GREEN – environmental preservation, BLUE – responsible business and RED – social inclusion. Given the importance of financing knowledge, stimulating partnerships and strengthening coordination between the different actors that make up this reverse logistics chain, we also want to highlight the results of the VI International Seminar on Electronic Waste – SIREE, held by the REMINARE research group at the Center for Mineral Technology - CETEM, Ministry of Science and Technology of the Brazilian Government, in celebration of International E-Waste Day

The WEEE Forum a.i.s.b.l. is an international association representing 51 producer responsibility organisations across the globe. Together with our members, we are at the forefront of turning the extended producer responsibility principle into an effective electronic waste management policy approach through our combined knowledge of the technical, business and operational aspects of collection, logistics, de-pollution, processing, preparing for reuse and reporting of e-waste. Our mission is to be the world’s foremost e-waste competence centre excelling in the implementation of the circularity principle.
