Description: Awareness and collecting campaign in Slovenia.
In the Library of Mirana Jarca in Novo mesto, the library of things will come to life this November. Since its shelves are still quite empty, its organizers have decided to organize the collection campaign "Bring useful things for the library of things" in the second half of October (from October 14 until 27, 2023). All collected, still useful things will be received by the library, where they will be available for free borrowing by all citizens. We at ZEOS are just one of the coorganizers, others are also Red Cross Novo mesto, Association for the development of voluntary work Novo mesto, LokalPatriot, association Library of Things (from Ljubljana) and Komunala Novo mesto, d.o.o..

Description: In October, we will be participating in a children's magazine called Ciciban with content about e-waste and waste batteries. It is intended for kindergarten children and children of the first triad of primary school.

In the October issue, we will participate in their playful educational section called Cici Happy School, where a topic is presented every month, which enables a conversation about life and events in it. We will highlight the issue of e-waste and waste batteries and the possibilities for their proper handling.

Cici Happy School is also an all-Slovenian test of knowledge that does not encourage competition, but research and cooperation. This year it will be conducted in an online version, but only at the end of the school year, when the children who subscribe to the magazine will take part in the test, in which they will also have a question from our topic.

In this way we will cover approx. 70,000 children nationwide.

The campaign will also include some small parallel activities in the field or online, which we will adapt to the current situation in Slovenia due to the virus.

    Description:

In Slovenia, we are setting up re-use corners, which are intended for everyone who would like to extend the life of their still operating appliances, which they no longer need. The most durable device is always the one we already have, so it makes sense to try to use it for as long as possible. We are placing the corners at the collection points of local utility companies. We want to use this year's International e-Waste Day for a broader media campaign that will support the corners as much as possible and ensure that the word about their locations reaches every small place in our country.

In the corners we collect appliances that are working, are undamaged and safe to use, such as washing machines, refrigerators, freezers, desktops and laptops, consumer electronics, small household appliances, toys, mobile phones, speakers, flat screen TV with remote control, LCD monitors, circular saws , drills, music towers, vacuum cleaners and other suitable electric or battery - operated appliances.

The corners are set up as part of the Life project Turn to e-circural under the slogan # I'm still useful! together with the project partners The Chamber of Public Utilities (a section of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia that associates all Slovenian public service providers) and the company TSD, d.o.o. (waste transportation and collection company in the process of obtaining an environmental permit to prepare waste electrical and electronic equipment for reuse). The project is co-financed by the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Slovenia and the European Commission. The project extends the life of appliances through the implementation of various activities such as appliance repair, appliance reuse and appliance sharing.

Description: The WEEE4Future campaign, aims at engaging people to count, characterize, collect and contribute their e-waste in four target cities/regions, leveraging the EIT RawMaterials partner network. The target audience is school and university students (14-24 year olds), with a KPI of engaging with 7,000 households across the four cities. The project will initially run until the end of 2020, with launch taking place end of September.

The aim is to gamify the process of collecting e-waste through use of a website, allowing schools or groups to enter details on e-waste found in their homes.  The project also gives access to educational content around the materials found in different electronics in order to raise awareness and increase understanding of e-waste issues and the importance of recycling; this will be structured around three modules:

    Module 01

    The E-Waste Dilemma

    • Definition

    • Category and type

    • Composition and mass balance

    Module 02

    The E-Waste Solution

    • E-Waste management system

    • E-Waste treatment process

    Module 03

    E-Recycling Benefits

    • Separated materials

    • New life for materials

Final disposal of hazardous and non recyclable materials

The target group is young, diverse and active. We will use social media to reach them ; we will roll out a communications campaign once the website is ready involving social media ads for generation Z, targeted ads to reach out to teachers and direct ads on instagram.
