Back Market's mission is to restore trust and desire for refurbished electronic devices by working with over 1,000 professional refurbishers to give electronics a second life. For International E-Waste Day 2020 Back Market will use its website and social media to educate consumers on how to find safe, reliable refurbished electronics and extend the life of their devices. Purchasing a refurbished electronic device allows us to make the most out of the resources we have already used for its initial production, while also reducing the overall impact of e-waste on the planet by keeping it from the landfill for as long as possible.

Description: We celebrate International E-Waste Day 2022 to focus on the reuse, repair, and recycling of small electronics. Our purpose is to repurpose.

Due to their small size, items such as cell phones, electric toothbrushes, toasters, and cameras are often discarded incorrectly, and they make up a significant proportion of the eight percent of all e-waste that is thrown in general waste bins which are subsequently landfilled or incinerated. This means the important raw materials they contain cannot be extracted and are lost. On top of this, small appliances are easily stored in cupboards, garages, basements, and attics and are quickly forgotten about.

In Europe alone, up to 1.4 kg of e-waste per inhabitant ends up in the general waste bin every year.

    That's a lot of E-waste!

Clear off your shelves, your closets, and that corner of your garage you have been meaning to get to.

Description: Electronic Waste is one of the fastest growing waste streams. It may come as a surprise, but it is estimated that in 2021, 57.4 million tons of e-waste will be produced worldwide. Unfortunately, only 17.4% of that waste is properly recycled. Statistics like this is why International E-Waste Day was created.

To celebrate, Good News Project will be collecting electronics at GNP E-CYCLING warehouse. This event is open to everyone and the cost is 45 cents per pound. Smoke detectors can be recycled for $15 each.

    Description:

On Friday, October 13, 2023, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Renaissance at Colony Park and NexTech, a local IT / E-Waste disposal services company, will host an E-Waste Collection Event in recognition of International E-Waste Day. The event will be held at Renaissance at Colony Park in Ridgeland (in the Barnes & Noble parking lot) and will offer a place for local residents and small businesses to dispose of their end-of-life/discarded electronics such as laptops/personal computers, monitors, televisions, cell phones, printers, scanners, cords and the like.

This E-Waste Collection Day aims to raise awareness about the critical nature of E-Waste disposal, prevent environmental contamination, and protect personal data by using secure, sustainable disposal practices. E-Waste poses harm to the environment with toxic materials and presents risk by exposing the owner’s personal information that remains on data-bearing devices like hard drives. This event brings knowledge and resources to residents and small businesses that may be unaware of the correct methods for disposing of E-Waste and who have limited resources for disposal services. Disposing of E-Waste is a huge and ever-growing challenge and disposal methods are not equal and can even be harmful if not handled properly. NexTech, an R2V3-certified company, meets the highest standards of e-waste disposal for any industry, complying with local, state, federal and industry regulations.
