Ecodom is a not-for-profit private consortium established on November the 25th 2004 by the leading Producers of large household appliances, extractor hoods and water-heaters operating on the Italian market to manage Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

Mission and objectives

Ecodom mission is to combine excellence in environmental protection with efficiency in WEEE treatment processes.

Ecodom manages the collection of WEEE from the Collection Facilities, their transportation to carefully selected plants and the subsequent treatment phase, during which the pollutants (which are then disposed of in environmentally safe ways) and the secondary raw materials (destined to be returned to the production cycle) are extracted from the WEEE.
The Consortium’s objectives are:

  • to guarantee an extremely high level of service to the Collection Facilities: in 99.86% of cases, in 2017, withdrawals were performed on schedule as established by the Framework Agreement signed between ANCI (National Association of Italian Municipalities) and Centro di Coordinamento RAEE (the Italian WEEE Clearing House)
  • to ensure excellence in environmental protection through a strict selection of suppliers and a continuous monitoring of treatment processes
  • to improve its operational and economic efficiency, by optimizing its logistics network and maximizing the recycling of the secondary raw materials (especially iron, copper, aluminum and plastic).

Members

As of December the 31st 2018 ECODOM has 124 members, currently representing almost 56% of the C&F and LHA sold annually in Italy.
