As the largest WEEE joint compliance scheme in Slovenia, ZEOS organises more than 10,000 waste pickups each year. Thus, by joining ZEOS scheme, producers, retailers, and importers can easily and conveniently ensure the compliance with all legal obligations, while contributing to sustainable practices and supporting the circular economy in Slovenia.
In addition to their core business, ZEOS also actively participates in different EU-funded projects. These projects are mainly focused on raising awareness about proper e-waste handling, improving collection infrastructure, and promoting sustainable practices. One notable project is the “Life Turn to e-circular”, co-financed by the European Union and the Slovenian Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy (project ID: LIFE18 GIE/SI/000008).
The project seeks to transition from a linear to a circular economy, reducing e-waste and promoting sustainability practices in Slovenia. Among others, it includes activities such as:
To encourage repair and maintenance, ZEOS has produced 100 videos providing useful information on proper maintenance and simple repairs on different common household appliances. The videos were created under ZEOS’ LIFE project Turn to e-circular, to prolong the lifespan of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE). Although the videos were initially intended for Slovenian public, all of them are now available with English subtitles thanks to YouTube’s own translation feature essentially enabling the widespread use of these videos.

More about ZEOS
ZEOS d.o.o. is a Slovenian non-profit organisation founded in 2005 by main Slovenian producers and retailers of electrical and electronic equipment. Its mission, goals, and role are derived from the requirements of the European WEEE Directive and the environmental legislation of the Republic of Slovenia. The organisation’s primary activity is the implementation of the extended producer responsibility system by offering its clients joint compliance schemes for waste electrical and electronic equipment, portable batteries, industrial batteries, and waste grave candles. With its extensive collection network and contractual partners ZEOS ensures the fulfilment of producers’ extended responsibilities in Slovenia. Additionally, ZEOS has a subsidiary company in Bosnia and Herzegovina (ZEOS eko-sistem), further extending its reach and impact in the region.
The WEEE Forum a.i.s.b.l. is an international association representing 51 producer responsibility organisations across the globe. Together with our members, we are at the forefront of turning the extended producer responsibility principle into an effective electronic waste management policy approach through our combined knowledge of the technical, business and operational aspects of collection, logistics, de-pollution, processing, preparing for reuse and reporting of e-waste. Our mission is to be the world’s foremost e-waste competence centre excelling in the implementation of the circularity principle.
