Description: On 14th October’ 2020 India is joining over 40 other countries in raising awareness of the issue of E-Waste and celebrating International E-Waste Day. Karo Sambhav, the first Producer Responsibility Organization from Asia to join WEEE Forum, is hosting the third International E-Waste Day in India.
On Wednesday, 14th October’ 2020 Karo Sambhav and USIBC will jointly host a virtual conference “A circular economy in E-Waste for an Atmanirbhar Bharat”. Stakeholders from the e-waste space will deliberate on solutions for developing a responsible and sustainable e-waste management ecosystem that promotes a circular economy in the country.
We will also organise the following awareness raising activities:

Description: India stands as the 3rd largest e-waste generator in the world producing a total of 3.2 million tonnes of e-waste in 2019. Small, end-of-life electrical and electronic appliances present a significant challenge. UN estimated that in 2019, over 22 million tonnes of small e-waste were produced worldwide. This is 40% of the 57 million tonnes of all e-waste arising globally. If the quantity of these small items keeps on increasing at the same rate as total e-waste (around 3% per annum), it will reach 29 million tonnes by 2030. Due to their small size, items such as cell phones, electric toothbrushes, toasters and cameras are often discarded incorrectly, and they make up a significant proportion of the 8% of all e-waste that is thrown in waste bins which is subsequently landfilled or incinerated. This means the important raw materials they contain cannot be extracted and are lost.
In this context, it is crucial that people become more aware and that the loss of the important resources these items contain is stopped. The focus of International E-Waste Day 2022 will be, therefore, on small items of e-waste, under the slogan ‘Recycle it all, no matter how small!’.
Karo Sambhav is an organisation that collaborates with enterprises, consumers, governments and alliances to enable circular economy. It is developing socially responsible and financially viable circular solutions by collaborating with disintegrated players across waste value chains. It designs and implements transformative Extended Producer Responsibility programmes for electronics waste and plastic waste. As they are the backbone of the recycling industry and using e-waste collection and dismantling for their daily sustenance.
The informal sector refers to individuals or community enterprises who are involved in the recovery of material and waste management activities that are not necessarily sponsored, financed, recognized, supported, organized, or acknowledged by the formal E-waste authorities.
By which we can prevent the precious metals and materials from ending up in landfill and also we’ll defend the people who are working in the informal E-waste sector from the health impacts of those hazardous materials.

As part of a pioneering collaboration with Ficci Flo Bangalore , we are accelerating the use of e waste into a Mural .
E Waste Social with our Founder Iram Maimuna immediately embraced and ran with the idea, creating a mural that helped bring the outside inside. Its a butterfly which reminds us of “Sustainable Recreation “
The resulting work illustrates the message of an exciting recreation management movement called Sustainable Recreation and clearly articulates love and passion for the recycling. Sustainable recreation is a new way of acting and thinking about how recreation improves lives, communities and the natural world. It engages with the enormous and creative energy of people who care for and benefit from circular economy. This passion for natural resources inspires citizen of the land, creating a relationship in which people recognize the need to protect natural resources for future generations.
The Mural will be completely made out of E waste and would thereby showcase creativity sustainability. It will be showcased on the World E waste Day in Bangalore , India .

Description: EcoEarth is a social enterprise with the mission to promote the sustainable circular economy in India - solving for waste collection and recycling of all possible e-waste and battery waste for recovery of critical materials - such as copper, aluminum, gold, mercury, lead etc.

Description: India employs ±2 million informal waste pickers in its informal e-waste sector. They are highly skilled, professional dismantlers, able to extract any value they might find. This often comes at the cost of their own health, and the environment. Since the safe disposal of hazardous waste is not guaranteed, and plastics are often discarded to landfill, we see opportunities for improvements to the circular economy.
Minimise have partnered with Landbell GreenForest Solutions India and Ecowork to research the impact of these activities. In total 18 tons of e-waste will be collected. 9 tons from which valuable components were already harvested by the informal sector, and 9 tons of unharvested e-waste.

The training was held from 27th August – 3rd September 2022. The aim of the EWAS was to expose participants to diverse normative and positive perspectives about e-waste management and provide multiple teaching and learning methodologies. It also provided them with an opportunity to exchange knowledge and implement the same in their respective countries.
The topic is so close to my heart that I am doing all such efforts on my own to disseminate knowledge.

WE have been organizing awareness webinars on “Electronic Waste Management.” for students, parents, and faculty members of different schools & colleges. WE also conduct awareness sessions with corporates, brands, and residential complexes etc. As a part of our activity, after the webinar, WE ask participants to drop-off their E-waste at school on a regular basis or directly notify us by phone/e-mail for E-waste pickup from their home location. In lieu, WE issue a GREEN CERTIFICATE OF RECYCLING in the name of the school & also give a memento for supporting Clean India - Green India. After the Webinar, Feedback link is shared with all participants. On receipt of feedback, we issue E-Certificates to all participants. Description: WE The Recycling company in partnership with Godrej Appliances conducts free online/offline awareness campaigns and collection drives across India or educational institutes, corporates, brands, hospitals, residential complexes etc. In this session, WE cover different aspects of E-waste, their life cycle, current scenario of waste generated, importance of recycling and how to support Digital India-Clean India initiative.
Awareness campaigns helps to create social impact by educating young minds and people from rural areas. In last one year, WE conducted 186 activities with different stakeholders in more than 20 states and 25+ cities in India and have impacted over 400,000 people by encouraging them to support E-waste recycling through formal channel.
For the next 2 months, WE have planned to conduct multiple awareness sessions and run mega collection drive in association with Thane Municipal Corporation and Anti-Plastic Brigade Charitable Trust.
