The Nigerian E-Waste Producer Responsibility Organization (EPRON) in Partnership with United Nations Information Centre and the International Labour Organization is holding a Stakeholders Sensitization Programme on the hazardous effect of improper e-waste management practices on human health.
The programme will be held at one of the major informal e-waste scrap yards - Odo-Iya Alaro, Ojota, Lagos State - and is aimed at informing stakeholders on the key challenges regarding the current e-waste recycling practices in the country and the measures in place to improve the situation. It is anticipated that placing e-waste in the spotlight in this manner will generate a positive public reaction that will drive appropriate regulatory enforcement towards unregistered producers of EEE and motivate consumers to cooperate in the upcoming collection initiatives that will be developed by EPRON.
