Description: Electrão - Waste Management Association is the main take back system for electric and electronic equipment (EEE) operating in Portugal, with a market share of more than 60%. Electrão is the only entity managing three waste streams: electronics, batteries and packaging waste.

To celebrate the 7th edition of International E-Waste Day, that will have the theme "join the e-waste hunt: retrieve, recycle and revive", Electrão is joining efforts with WEEE Forum and its other members to create a video that will show the motivations that lead people to recycle e-waste. We will also create a campaign in social media, with data, to sensitize people that don't recycle their e-waste to do so and to motivate them to find the hidden old electronic equipment they have in their draws and take them to the nearest recycling point.

Between 11th and 14th October, we are planning to launch: a press campaign with press releases, a social media and website campaign and a market with several activities to help people give a new life to their old or broken electronics.

About

The WEEE Forum a.i.s.b.l. is an international association representing 51 producer responsibility organisations across the globe. Together with our members, we are at the forefront of turning the extended producer responsibility principle into an effective electronic waste management policy approach through our combined knowledge of the technical, business and operational aspects of collection, logistics, de-pollution, processing, preparing for reuse and reporting of e-waste. Our mission is to be the world’s foremost e-waste competence centre excelling in the implementation of the circularity principle.
