    Description: On the occasion of the commemoration of the international WEEE day, which will be celebrated on October 14, the organization of a face-to-face event is proposed in which the country's innovators can present the research activities they carry out for the recovery of WEEE In addition, new treatment alternatives can be shown for the treatment of plastics present in these materials.

    The proposed format will also allow interaction with environmental movements, as well as with handlers and recyclers of different materials, as well as with the Recycling and Cleaning Technical Tables (METRAS).

    The activity will have the active participation of innovators from the country who are carrying out activities for the recovery of WEEE or designing new elements from them, who will interact with the METRAS, as well as companies handling WEEE and other materials, with the in order to promote the productive chain and the use of resources from its treatment. For this, the activity will have two thematic areas, the first one referring to a space for exhibitors and a second space in which there will be a discussion of the elements of WEEE management.




    En ocasión de la conmemoración del día internacional de los RAEE, el cual se celebrará el próximo 14 de octubre, se plantea la organización de un evento presencial en el cual los innovadores del país puedan presentar las actividades de investigación que realizan para la recuperación de RAEE, además se podrán mostrar nuevas alternativas de tratamiento para el tratamiento de plásticos presentes en estos materiales.

    El formato planteado permitirá también la interacción con los movimientos ambientales, así como con manejadores y recicladores de diferentes materiales, así como con las Mesas Técnicas de Reciclaje y Aseo (METRAS).

    La actividad, contará con la participación activa de innovadores del país que están realizando actividades para la recuperación de los RAEE o diseño de nuevos elementos a partir de ellos, quienes interactuarán con las METRAS , así como empresas manejadoras de RAEE y otros materiales, con el fin de fomentar el encadenamiento productivo y el aprovechamiento de los recursos provenientes de su tratamiento.  Para ello, la actividad contará con dos áreas temáticas, la primera de ellas referida a un espacio para los expositores y un segundo espacio en el cual se tendrá un conversatorio de los elementos de gestión de los RAEE.

    Description: From e-waste collection campaigns to online workshops, a wide range of activities are planned under the UNIDO-GEF LAC e-waste project (PREAL) in a number of the participating countries.

    • Highlights include:

    •  Talk for the general public on 'how to reduce the impact of the electrical equipment we use and the e-waste we generate', (29 September, organised by Red UNA STEM of the National University, Costa Rica)

    • 'Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on E-waste in the first three quarters of 2020' Conversation between Michelle Wagner, international expert, Scycle UNU, Eugenio Androvetto, Ministry of Health, Costa Rica, and Pablo Hernández, ASEGIRE (organised by PREAL Costa Rica/Ministry of Health, Costa Rica)

    • Virtual discussion aimed at university students - 'What is e-waste and how is it managed?' "System of Networks of Technological Waste Companies in Panama". (13 October, organised by the Ministry of Health, Panama)

    • E-waste collection campaign - Chepo, Panama, Universidad de Panama, Ministry of Health HQ (14 October, organised by the Ministry of Health, Panama)

    • Workshops with the academic sector (19 October, organised by PREAL Guatemala)

    • Demonstration of key e-waste management processes (separation/classification) by e-waste treatment companies (14 October, organised by the Ministry of Ecosocialism, Venezuela)

    • Promotion of infographics on the national e-waste situation (promoted by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, Argentina)

    • The Project will also support the IEWD social media campaign and various videos, infographics and other materials related to e-waste will be shared through the Project on and around 14 October.
