This week the COLLECTORS project has launched its waste collection database detailing best practice in the collection of WEEE, paper & packaging waste, and construction & demolition waste. The data is designed to help municipalities and other organisations to develop high quality and effective waste collection systems and provides specific information on segregated collection, sorting performance and associated costs.
The project has collected datasets on 242 municipal waste collection systems by identifying publicly available data and through direct contact with competent authorities. The collected data are now available on an online web platform that enables users to select criteria and identify relevant territories and to consult their performance.
The partners in the project have supplemented the platform by compiling an online waste library containing the 250+ sources used during the course of the research.
The WEEE Forum a.i.s.b.l. is an international association representing 51 producer responsibility organisations across the globe. Together with our members, we are at the forefront of turning the extended producer responsibility principle into an effective electronic waste management policy approach through our combined knowledge of the technical, business and operational aspects of collection, logistics, de-pollution, processing, preparing for reuse and reporting of e-waste. Our mission is to be the world’s foremost e-waste competence centre excelling in the implementation of the circularity principle.
