The WEEE Forum a.i.s.b.l. is an international for-impact association speaking for forty-six not-for-profit producer responsibility organisations (PRO) across the globe that manage the collection and treatment of electrical and electronic waste. Together with our members on the five continents, we are at the forefront of tackling the worldwide societal challenge of electronic waste. We aspire to be among the world’s foremost e-waste competence centres, excelling in the implementation of the principles of circularity in the economy and society.

The WEEE Forum is headquartered in Brussels, yet the agile team is currently composed of 8 professionals of 7 distinct nationalities, residing and working in Belgium, Spain, Germany and the United Kingdom.

The WEEE Forum has recently been successful in obtaining funding for four new international projects and, as a result, is recruiting an intrinsically motivated, pro-active, creative, and results-driven Communication Assistant (him/her) to join its team. He/she will support the Communication Manager in her work on these projects as well as with core WEEE Forum communication. In particular, he/she will:

  • Provide assistance on all aspects of the delivery of the communication and dissemination work in projects, including website updates and coordination; production of news releases; creation of social media posts and newsletters; development of branded materials, i.a. PowerPoint and Word templates, and design materials (infographics, banners, posters…); organisation and promotion of events; maintaining database of stakeholders.
  • On occasion manage the delivery of the items listed above with responsibility for discrete tasks/campaigns.
  • Assist the Communication Manager with core WEEE Forum activities, including creation and posting of social media posts; promoting events; organisation of the annual International E-Waste Day as well as internal communication projects with the membership
  • Collaborate with other members of the team to align and craft messages for social media and other communication tools;
  • Provide tangential support on the preparation of new project proposals.

This person will be part of the Comms Team currently composed of a Communication Manager, who will be his/her line manager, and a Project Manager. The full time (or negotiable 80% part time) position is subject to a trial period and holds for a definite period of at least four years.

The candidate must meet the criteria as spelled out in the Job Description.

  • Minimum 3 years professional experience in communication;
  • Knowledge of the sector of electronic waste management and of grant-funded project procedures considered a major plus;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite of software tools;
  • Knowledge of WordPress would be an asset;
  • Ability with newsletter tools (Mailchimp and Campaign Monitor) and social media;
  • Experience in event organisation;
  • Excellent oral and written English, other languages a major plus; English is the working language of the WEEE Forum;
  • Pride in getting things done with an analytical eye for detail;
  • Creativity and problem-solving approach;
  • Capacity to work autonomously from home as part of a remote team.
