ecosystem is the biggest PRO in Europe moreover in the World. In 2022, its 148 employees enabled the collection of around 700,000 tons of waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) spanning across four different sectors: household WEEE, professional WEEE, lamps and small fire extinguishers.

Raising awareness of French citizens on repairing and recycling WEEE is part of ecosystem’s core mission: “Accélérer les changements de comportement des citoyens dans leur vie privée ou leur sphère d’action professionnelle etc.” i.e. “Fostering behavior change among French citizens, in both their private and professional lives”.

Within ecosystem’s communications department, a small team is specifically dedicated to B2B communications including member producers, collection partners, and other industry actors. Due to rising corporate social responsibility (CSR) expectations as a whole, this team has been receiving an increasing number of stakeholder requests to provide ready-to-use and insightful content about recycling and repairing WEEE.

What is eeeasy!?

eeeasy! is an online information platform launched by ecosystem in September 2022, providing answers to stakeholder needs with interactive content such as infographics and questionnaires in 3 different topics:

• Current climate crisis and ongoing stakes at play;
• Individual and collective solutions to cope with this situation;
• Recycling and proper treatment of WEEE.

Ecosystem employees are encouraged to train themselves in each topic following a 20-minute online workshop or an hour long “awareness session” organised by CSR and communications managers. eeeasy! also caters to producer needs, providing accurate answers to specific questions raised by members. The content has been developed based on internal data, reports of French and international institutions and with the expert help of an external communications agency.

eeeasy! results

Within three months of the launch, 308 accounts were created from 243 different companies on the platform. In 2023, ecosystem aims at doubling the number registrations as well as accompanying member producers in the organisation of events with eeeasy-based content (in the framework of International E-Waste Day, European Sustainable Development Week, and other internal events).
