In 2019, Ecotrel launched its Social ReUse project in partnership with several municipality collection points to encourage the repair and reuse of electric and electronic equipment. Promoting social inclusion, the collected items such as washing machines, vacuum cleaners, coffee machines, or blenders are prepared for resale at a reduced price while IT devices such as laptops or mobile phones are redistributed to people who need access to information and digital technology.

Last year (2022), Ecotrel recovered more than 5000 second-hand appliances through this project, with 89% of them being reintroduced on the market. Given Luxembourg’s small population, these figures are especially significant.

Part of Ecotrel’s core mission is to raise public awareness of the importance of reusing and recycling EEE. For that matter, Ecotrel equally developed a media campaign in three different languages: Everything you need to know to give your electronic equipment a second life.
