METIUM is creating the first EU Interregional Urban Mining Innovation Ecosystem, developing 4 cross-border Strategic Raw Materials (SRM) value chains with 15 demonstrators from collection to hydrometallurgy. At the core is the “Hydromet Triangle” in Less Developed Regions (LDRs), scaling 5 advanced hydrometallurgical processes as a sustainable alternative to pyrometallurgy.
Our 19 partners from 8 LDRs focus on critical SRMs such as Li-ion battery materials, PGMs, REEs, Aluminium, and Copper, recovering 80–99.99% from End-of-Life products.
METIUM will also pilot the first EU-wide Urban Mining Marketplace, consolidating waste streams and fostering interregional collaboration.
