News release, Recycling plant tour

Description: In Kematen/Ybbs, in the province of Lower Austria, we recycle cooling equipment in what are up-to-the-minute facilities and where approximately 300,000 units are treated per year in three-shift operations. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary, we will be organising a plant tour for students and media representatives to demonstrate how discarded cooling appliances are treated correctly and that close to 95% of the materials is recycled as secondary raw materials. Materials such as aluminium, iron, copper, and plastics are extracted with great care and can be put to use in new products. With this event we aim to raise awareness of the importance of e-waste recycling and highlight the International E-Waste Day.

Public Campaign - Internet news, News release

Description: The Solving the E-waste Problem (StEP) Initiative as an independent, multi-stakeholder platform for designing strategies that address all dimensions of electronics in an increasingly digitized world. StEP applies an integrated, science-rooted approach to create salient solutions to global e-waste challenges along the entire electronics life cycle. We facilitate research, analysis and dialogue among more than 35 members drawn from business, international organizations, governments, NGO’s and academic institutions around the world.

As such we strongly support the organisation of the International E-Waste Day. It helps raising awareness among a broad public. In order to promote the activities, we will include an article in the upcoming StEP newsletter that goes out to more than 400 persons.
