Public Campaign - Social media

Description: This year, as part of the WEEE Forum's International E-Waste Day, we would like to raise awareness across our local communities by inviting our local school pupils to bring into their schools any broken or unwanted small electrical appliances, basically, anything with a plug.

We have arranged to collect these items from participating schools and return them to our Grantham Recycling and Reuse Site, based on Spittegate Level. We will then use our bespoke systems and processes, at no cost to the school, to carry out their reuse and recycling on site.

In doing this, we endeavour to help our future generations understand the importance of Recycling and Reuse and to highlight what should happen to these unwanted items when they reach the end of their useful life.

Instead of going into landfill, burned or illegally traded, these items will either be repaired and tested for reuse or they will be broken down into plastics and precious metals, which can then be recycled.

The school which collects the highest weight of e-waste per pupil will receive a donation of a refurbished laptop.

We will also provide, via social media, a photographic journey of the e-waste showing the process it follows once in our hands.

Description: We are an international appliance spare part supplier based in the UK. Stocking over 1.5 million spare parts to fit more than 500 household brands is our bread and butter but what we really love doing is helping people fit these parts and fix their appliances themselves! We do this by producing easy-to-follow how-to videos and informative advice centre articles, giving people the tools and confidence they need.

We believe fixing appliances and tackling e-waste goes hand in hand. So, we are extremely passionate about raising awareness of the poisoning effect that electronic waste has on our planet. We want to trigger as many conversations as possible on this topic so we will be pushing information through our social channels around e-waste, its drastic effects on the environment and what we can do to change our consumer behaviour. We will also be producing a blog article educating people on tackling e-waste and the theme of the International E-waste Day this year.

Description: The S2S Group are an IT Asset Management company operating in Rotherham, we handle the disposal of client and corporate data to high-security standards, all while upholding a zero to landfill policy.

Because we often handle redundant IT, we want to promote reuse and recycling for these assets, to help our environment and even save our customer's money by encouraging them to wipe and reuse their assets over destroying them.

To raise awareness of International e-waste day, we plan to create a series of social media posts to be released throughout the week starting the 12th of October, along with a blog article educating readers on the harm improper disposal of electronic waste to the environment. Alongside this, we hope to create an email highlighting the key points of the article.

There is the possibility for extra content depending on the time and resources available to us at the time.

Our top priority is to raise awareness, and we hope to help educate businesses on the ways they can improve their e-waste disposal for the benefit of our planet.

A collection of as many of the little gold pieces of metal pulled from old smartphones, computers and circuit boards. Go through all your old Ewaste and pull out the little gold bits. Send them to us for and exciting and innovative urban mining E-waste project where we will remediate the gold from the E-Waste and WEEE using mycelium. As the mycelium grows through the powdered E-waste substrate the enzymes in the mycelium will transmute, yes literally eat the waste heavy metal and plastics and leave the gold behind! This is an artistic environmentally friendly solution to recycle the precious metals from ewaste. Display of the live interactive art installation yet to be confirmed. LET’S START COLLECTING.

Description: As an environmentally conscious company, we think it is incredibly important to recycle e-waste. As a company, we buy redundant, used and old IT equipment from customers and go on to recycle, refurbish or refine it. Refurbished kit goes through treatment and testing, including fully wiping any data from devices, before being put back onto the market. We do not send anything to landfill. Our goal is to create a circular economy by buying used kit and selling refurbished kit.
For IEWD, we are setting up an E-waste hub where people can drop off their used IT equipment. They simply need to fill in the form on our website (https://www.zixtel.com/sell-to-us/) and a member of our sales team will be in touch with a quote. You can then come and drop off your equipment at our warehouse, and we will pay you for the goods. The E-waste hub will be available all week to celebrate IEWD.
