  • UFH invites everybody to visit the DRZ (Demontage- und Recycling-Zentrum) on October 14, 2022 in Vienna. The DRZ is a recycling, reuse and upcycling company for electrical equipment. Students, media representatives and interested people will be invited to guided tours and subsequent workshops in the DRZ. We ask the population to hand in used small electrical devices to the DRZ as well, matching to this year's slogan “Recycle it all, no matter how small!

  • UFH promotes this event in their newsletter, via LinkedIn, a direct mailing and with an advanced press release.

Activities:

Workshop, News release, Public collection, Social media, Guided tours of the DRZ premises

Description: While the 100 workers at the Dismantling and Recycling Center Vienna are busy processing the community's e-waste, hardly anyone in the predominantly residential neighbourhood knows about the exact why and how of the noise and truck traffic involved.

Come and find out by yourself! You are welcome to visit the premises of DRZ, and learn about what happens here: the environmental and social benefits of treating 6 tons of old electric and/or electronic appliances per workday, with formerly long-term unemployed persons who face difficulties in finding an appropriate new job on the regular labour market.

Most of this huge amount of e-waste is dismantled manually, for recycling, but some devices can still be re-used, after some repair steps, and particularly appealing parts even make really beautiful new design products.

Friday 14 October 2022, International E-Waste Day:

  • Guided tours

  • Workshops for adults and children

  • Collection of small electronic devices
