Description: Video interviews with consumers on the streets across cities - Hamburg (Germany), Madrid (Spain), Glasgow (Scotland), London (UK), Barcelona (Spain) & Accra (Ghana). To find out how much people know about e-waste, its disposal and awareness around related issues. We plan to partner with Repair Circle in Germany, Backmarket in the UK and are finalizing a partner in Spain - these strategic partners would provide discounts or coupons for second life electronics. The objective is to generate a fun, relatable digital media friendly campaign that helps raise education and awareness around e-waste with consumers in different geographies

Description:

AREA OF CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Preparation for Reuse

The predominant production model in our society is a linear one — the classic “take, make, use, and throw away.” This system requires large amounts of energy and natural resources. However, the scarcity of some of these resources is already becoming evident, making it necessary to transition to a more circular production model, based on the principle of closing the loop, where the waste of some becomes a resource for others. This system also helps generate local employment.

In 2009, a Work Camp was organized in which young people from different countries came to help launch the first Preparation for Reuse Center promoted by COGERSA: the EkoCenter Emaús. Its goal is to bring citizens closer to the possibility of reusing items they no longer want, thus preventing them from ending up in landfills.

About

The WEEE Forum a.i.s.b.l. is an international association representing 49 producer responsibility organisations across the globe. Together with our members, we are at the forefront of turning the extended producer responsibility principle into an effective electronic waste management policy approach through our combined knowledge of the technical, business and operational aspects of collection, logistics, de-pollution, processing, preparing for reuse and reporting of e-waste. Our mission is to be the world’s foremost e-waste competence centre excelling in the implementation of the circularity principle.
