Description:

Latin American Forum on Circular Economy and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (FLECRAEES)

The FLECRAEES is an annual hybrid event organized since 2021 by Estrategia Circular MX, held in the framework of the International E-Waste Day promoted by the WEEE Forum every October 14. Its purpose is to highlight the growing challenge of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) in Latin America and the Caribbean and to promote its responsible management through a circular economy approach.

In 2025, the fifth edition of the FLECRAEES will take place on October 14, co-organized in partnership with Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Mexico City, strengthening its academic and cross-sectoral focus. This edition aims to solidify FLECRAEES as the leading regional platform for dialogue on WEEE and circular economy.

With a hybrid format — both in-person and virtual — the Forum brings together key stakeholders from government, business, academia, and civil society. Its goals include raising awareness about the WEEE issue, understanding its connections with circular economy principles, identifying effective strategies and business models, and strengthening circular value chains in the region.

FLECRAEES promotes the formation of partnerships, the exchange of successful experiences, and the development of collaborative solutions that contribute to a fair and inclusive ecological transition for Latin America.

Description: At our university, electronics recycling is part of the Faculty of Information Sciences' Computer and Electronics Equipment Recycling project. Since 2007, the project has been collecting equipment, achieving annual collection campaigns of more than 20 tons in one or two days. This allows us to understand the problems and social commitment of our institution regarding electronic waste.
