Workshop

Description:

We are planning to host a workshop/training session for reclaimers on 14 October 2025, in commemoration of International E-Waste Day. This initiative aims to raise awareness around the safe disposal of electronic waste, especially among reclaimers who operate in landfill sites, waste transfer stations, and during curbside bin collections.

As you may be aware, these reclaimers are regularly exposed to hazardous e-waste materials, which poses significant health, safety, and environmental risks. The workshop will cover:

  • The handling and dismantling of e-waste

  • Safe recycling practices

  • The importance of using registered and reputable recyclers

We are particularly concerned about the risk posed by hazardous components, such as batteries and combustible cans, which can ignite or explode, especially during hot summer conditions.

In support of this initiative, we kindly request WEEE Forum with the following:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Educational materials

  • Refreshments for participants

  • Branded items (banners, shirts, etc.) to enhance visibility and awareness

Your support would greatly contribute to the safety and empowerment of informal reclaimers, while promoting responsible e-waste management in our community.
