Public Campaign - Social media

Description: APPLiA would like to create a short series of cartoon-style videos, depicting a real-life scenario where consumers are faced with information gaps and do not know how to properly discard their appliances when they reach their end-of-life. The short series would act as an educational tool to guide consumers through the right path when it comes to discarding and recycling their devices, and raise awareness on the rising e-waste issue. The social media campaign would also build up to a ‘special edition’ of APPLiA’s digital interviews, featuring Recupel’s CEO, on the impacts of e-waste on the environment and the key role played by consumers with this regard. All materials will be shared via the APPLiA social media channels and digital outlets.

creating equitable access to opportunities by providing refurbished IT equipment for local community organizations

Description: Circular Brussels is a non-profit and social organization that creates equitable access to opportunities by providing refurbished IT equipment for local community organizations, while at the same time:

  • diverting electronic waste from landfill.

  • preventing tons of carbon dioxide from being emitted into the atmosphere.

  • saving people from suffering the consequences from ingesting polluted air, water and food.

What we do

Circular Brussels collects decommissioned ICT from businesses and industries of any size. We securely and certifiably wipe devices of sensitive data after determining which equipment can be reused, refurbished, or recycled.

Reusable ICT are refurbished, updated, and distributed to local community organizations.

Non-Reusable ICT are ecologically recycled by our sister company Out of Use to obtain much needed raw materials in Europe.

For the International E-Waste Day 2021 we will issue awareness raising posts on social media about the importance of RE-using electronic waste and how it prevents thousands of tons of carbon dioxide from being emitted into the atmosphere.

Description:
Ko-Lab vzw, the hacker-makerspace from Mechelen, is an open workspace where people with common interests in science, technics and crafts can meet and inspire each other over a repair, experiment or R&D project. Therefore, the idea of re-use and refurbish is very much present in our 'space'.

We very much support the right to repair idea and we are convinced that every part of the chain has to take an active role to make circularity a reality for e-products. That's why we try to bring science closer to society. Which we also plan to do in the weekend of 23/10. This weekend will be full of activities to raise awareness in Mechelen about the shift we need to make to repair and about the concerns around e-waste.
