And to mark the occasion, we are doing an inter office e-waste competition, where employees are asked to collect any e-waste from their houses for correct disposal. The office that collects the highest weight of e-waste per capita will win the challenge!

In addition, our UK office is preparing a video where Sofies UK Managing Director, Federico Magalini, will answer questions from the audience (collected via form on social media) about e-waste management and the current challenges in the field. The idea is to promote awareness and to bring people closer to the topic.

Description: Tech-Takeback is a not-for-profit based in Brighton & Hove, supported by Brighton & Hove City Council. We give unwanted tech and small electricals a second life.

We collect donated items (working or broken) from across the city, in partnership with The ZeroNet, through RevaluElectricals, our residential collection service. All data bearing items undergo a secure data-erasure process before being repaired and refurbished. Wherever possible items are then redistributed, with help from our charity partners, to schoolchildren, families and vulnerable members of the community. Any items unsuitable for reuse are dismantled and recycled responsibly.

Throughout International E-Waste Day we will share the facts and statistics relating to e-waste with our audience on social media; hold an Instagram live interview and project update 12:30 – 13:00 on @TechTakeback; release our latest newsletter; celebrate a successful first year of operations for RevaluElectricals; publicise an upcoming tech amnesty event which we are holding, in collaboration with Brighton Digital Festival and of course, as always we will continue with our city wide small electricals collection service.
