Description: National Initiative "WEEEcycle to Help" in favor of children with burns: In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the WEEEcycle initiative was born to help, which promotes compliance with the regulatory-environmental framework in the management and handling of WEEE, responsible recycling, and raising awareness among the different actors in the chain of consumption of electrical and electronic devices, which has been generating important environmental benefits, actions to prevent health risks and the co-financing of treatments for patients who have suffered burns in the middle of the ANIQUEM pandemic. - Companies and private institutions in the country can join managing their waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) through the Collective Management System of WEEE-RECOLECC. During the global pandemic of covid-19 and the subsequent quarantine, there has been a 50% increase in the cases of children with burns in our country, according to the National Institute of Child Health of Peru. According to the UN, in 2021 each person on the planet will produce an average of 7.6 kg of electronic waste, which means that 57.4 million tons will be generated worldwide. Only 17.4 percent of this e-waste containing a mixture of harmful substances and precious materials will be recorded as properly collected, treated and recycled. This initiative involves the main cities of the country Arequipa, Moquegua, Cajamarca, Huánuco, Lima, Cusco among others. In Peru there is a special WEEE Management and Management Regime that establishes the recovery of materials as the first purpose and the final disposal as the last, and with the recent publication of a table of penalties and sanctions by the environmental supervisory authority, the management of this special type of waste becomes more relevant. Given this fact, the Collective WEEE Management System - RECOLECC together with the Ministry of the Environment of Peru, the Association for Aid to the Burned Child (ANIQUEM), the treatment company Comimtel Recycling, together with Regional Governments, Provincial Municipalities and private companies from different mining, energy, oil and industrial sectors, among others, joined forces to implement the national initiative "Raeecicla para Ayudar" that has been generating important results.
