Description: As part of our ongoing commitment to reducing our impact on the environment and moving to a more circular economy, Beko plc are participating in International E-Waste Day initiative raising awareness amongst our colleagues of the E-Waste issue and promoting the reuse and recyclability of electrical and electronic products.

For 2 weeks, between the 9th and 20th of October, we’ve organized collection points in our offices in UK and Ireland, to encourage colleagues to 'bring their WEEE to work’, making it easier for them to discard of these items and ensuring they’re responsibly disposed of and recycled.

We’re also encouraging the wider public, through our social media channels, to look for electrical and electronic items they no longer need and find the local drop of points for donations or recycling.

School campaign or collection

Description: Our first weee2tree project was started in O’Connell’s Primary School, Richmond St, Dublin 1 in June 2023. This project has been directly funded by Electronic Recycling as part of their commitment to weee2tree.
The project consists of converting four small sections in the schoolyard into biodiversity corners.

The first task was to prepare the soil for planting, which will take place in early winter, when the trees are dormant. To prepare the soil, children from 1st and 2nd Class were enthusiastically involved.

While the project develops, Brendan Palmer from Electronic Recycling will speak to the children on the impact of e-waste on the environment and importance of recycling it properly, especially the small stuff.
Pocket Forests will return to the school in early winter for the planting and the children will have another opportunity to learn more about biodiversity and be reminded again of the need to recycle small e-waste

Description: We would like to create an infographic campaign stating why refurbished and recertified products are good to use and what Co2 emissions will be saved by using reused IT leading up to International Ewaste day 2023.

We work with a manufacturer who supplies us recertified & refurbished goods and we really want to leverage the upcoming International day of awareness to drive this messaging home,
