Description: From e-waste collection campaigns to online workshops, a wide range of activities are planned under the UNIDO-GEF LAC e-waste project (PREAL) in a number of the participating countries.

  • Highlights include:

  •  Talk for the general public on 'how to reduce the impact of the electrical equipment we use and the e-waste we generate', (29 September, organised by Red UNA STEM of the National University, Costa Rica)

  • 'Impact of the Covid-19 Pandemic on E-waste in the first three quarters of 2020' Conversation between Michelle Wagner, international expert, Scycle UNU, Eugenio Androvetto, Ministry of Health, Costa Rica, and Pablo Hernández, ASEGIRE (organised by PREAL Costa Rica/Ministry of Health, Costa Rica)

  • Virtual discussion aimed at university students - 'What is e-waste and how is it managed?' "System of Networks of Technological Waste Companies in Panama". (13 October, organised by the Ministry of Health, Panama)

  • E-waste collection campaign - Chepo, Panama, Universidad de Panama, Ministry of Health HQ (14 October, organised by the Ministry of Health, Panama)

  • Workshops with the academic sector (19 October, organised by PREAL Guatemala)

  • Demonstration of key e-waste management processes (separation/classification) by e-waste treatment companies (14 October, organised by the Ministry of Ecosocialism, Venezuela)

  • Promotion of infographics on the national e-waste situation (promoted by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, Argentina)

  • The Project will also support the IEWD social media campaign and various videos, infographics and other materials related to e-waste will be shared through the Project on and around 14 October.
