Shareholders are the 9 companies which themselves represent about 65 % of the Slovenian market in all 10 EEE categories. In 2009 ZEOS also started collective take-back system for waste batteries and accumulators and in 2013 also started collective take-back system for waste candles. In 2013 ZEOS establish daughter company ZEOS eko-sistem in Bosnia and Hercegovina (www.zeos.ba).

Collection system

ZEOS is organizing its collection system based on the 3 types of collection points:

  • municipal collection points („container parks‟) (70 points),
  • producer collection points run by waste management companies (60 points) and
  • distributor/retail collection points (more than 300 points).

Treatment partners

ZEOS is charging treatment partners from national market and from abroad. One part, especially the treatment of cooling and freezing appliances, gas discharge lamps and the treatment of dismantled cathode ray tubes and batteries is done abroad. For the treatment of the rest of WEEE, ZEOS is using already existing infrastructure of Slovenia, also removing hazardous components from large and small appliances. Each specific logistic region is related to one treatment plant for each flow served by one logistic operator.
